The OpenSky Pop-Up Gallery Is Now Open!

Last night the entire OpenSky family celebrated the launch of our very first pop-up gallery – which will be open for the weekend at 477 Broome Street in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood.

We’re calling it a gallery because it’s more than just a shop.

Inside you’ll find 105 different products handpicked by our family of 80 curators and styled in pop-art inspired sculptures.

Hoodies by SpiritHoods Kid

To make all of this happen it took our amazing partners from IRL Productions and Square Design 6,000 square feet of museum white paint, 1,480 pounds of fiber board, 110 yards of muslin and three football fields worth of pine to build out and style all 700+ pieces of products that make up the amazing art. And it was well worth the time and energy!

Our curators, staff and friends were out in full force to help us celebrate the launch and kick-off a weekend full of events.

The party rocked for almost 5 hours while everyone danced, drank and shopped!

If you didn’t join us last night, come by this weekend.  There’s more fun to be had.  The gallery is open to all from 10:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. daily through Sunday, November 13 at 477 Broome Street at Wooster Street.

Shopping Just Got Easier.

by Caitlin Heikkila November, 10 2011 Posted in News

If you’ve visited OpenSky lately, you may have noticed things look a little different– in a very good way. Our tech team is working hard to make improvements to our site to better serve our shoppers, just in time for the holiday season.

OpenSky Product Manager Andy Fisher gave me the low down on the latest changes and what’s coming next. The newest update? A shopping cart feature. Members can now purchase more than one item at a time– that means you can buy those Tejani Gypsy bangles from Shopafrolic the same time you buy your Frenzii Pocket Mini Skirt picked out by Kelly Killoren Bensimon. Bonus: when you add an item to your cart and log out, when you come back, the item is in the cart waiting for you.

“The cart will make the shopping process easier. Many of our products go together, so now shoppers can buy the same item in different colors and sizes, foods and accessories that pair well together, and multiple items for gifts,” Andy said.

But that’s not all. Andy and his team are planning to make the shopping process even more seamless, including new ways to customize your order, gift options, and faster ship times.

“I like helping make holiday shopping easier. I’m excited to build the site to be more navigable and efficient for our members.” Andy said.

We would love for you to come by this Friday 10am to 8pm. It’s the perfect way to get a jump start on your shopping– there will be something for every foodie, style maven, design diva, and health nut on your list.

Monday Morning Surprise: Chanel, Missoni, Karen Walker

by Caitlin Heikkila November, 8 2011 Posted in All, News

Ronnie Jacobs, the winner of our giveaway with The Zoe Report.

How would you like to wake up on a Monday morning and discover you won a Chanel bag, a Missoni scarf, and Karen Walker sunglasses? For Ronnie Jacobs of Rochester, New York, that was her Monday. We held a to-die-for giveaway with The Zoe Report, and picked our winner this week.

“I was freaking out when I saw that I won. My daughter and I are huge fans of Rachel Zoe. I haven’t told her that I won yet, because I wanted to make sure it’s real. She’s going to want my prize!” Ronnie told us.

Ronnie’s most excited about the Chanel bag. She loves the classic style and that it goes with everything. Before entering the sweepstakes, she had never used OpenSky before, but is quickly becoming a fan.

“OpenSky is such a great site. I love that there’s so many different people from different walks of life picking out their favorite products,” she said.

When Ronnie receives her Chanel, Missoni, and Karen Walker sunnies, she promised she would send us a photo– so stay tuned for more. Her advice for giveaway hopefuls? “Just do it. You never know when you could win.”

OpenSky’s First Thanksgiving Celebration

by Caitlin Heikkila November, 7 2011 Posted in News

Its our first Thanksgiving dinner here at OpenSky, and we’re celebrating all November long.  Our foodie and design curators picked out their favorite kitchen tools, tabletop accessories, and tasty treats for the occasion. Bring on the pumpkin pie, the stuffing, and plenty of turkey– we’re ready to go! Take a look at a few of our picks below, or click here to see everything you need for your Thanksgiving holiday.

Maison Terre Thanksgiving Food Bundle

Beekman1802 found this bundle that spices up any Thanksgiving dinner. This pack of turkey brine, mulling spices, and pumpkin muffin mix adds all of those holiday flavors, AND your kitchen will smell amazing.

Turkey 101 Kit

Georgia Pellegrini knows that cooking up a Thanksgiving turkey isn’t always easy. That’s why she picked out a tool kit to make it a cinch. Her turkey 101 kit includes a measuring bulb baster, an endurance bamboo twine dispenser, butcher’s twine, and poultry lifters.

Arthur Court Grapevine Serving Set

Whether you say stuffing or dressing, Whitney Miller found the best way to serve it. These leaf-shaped serving utensils are a beautiful and festive addition to any place setting. They just scream Fall, don’t they?

Join OpenSky now to get in on these picks from our first Thanksgiving celebration.
